Brisbane Finders Keepers & Colour Me Brisbane

Rebecca HollandComment

This recap is coming a day late, I just feel like time is getting away from me lately! I think it's the time of year, I can't believe the end is approaching already.

I don't know about you, but I find events cluster around certain weekends, it can be so quiet for a month, then suddenly there are 3 events and 4 invitations, all really appealing, in the one weekend, and it gets even more common at this time of year.

This past weekend was one of those weekends. We have the G20 summit here in Brisbane this week, which is creating a general sense of excitement and free events (in amongst the anxiety and proposed chaos!), including Colour Me Brisbane, which is a light display taking place at various points throughout the city. We decided to go and check it out on Friday night with James, not knowing what he would think. Luckily he was thoroughly enthralled by the whole thing. It was a good night out, walking through the city.

The Brisbane Finders Keepers markets were on also this weekend, which I always love, but have been unable to attend the last few times. We went and had a look around on Sunday. It was great returning to these markets after a bit of an absence, seeing a lot of new stalls and meeting the makers of some incredible items. Of course I could have bought a lot of things, but I limited myself to a sweet little gold dotted vase made by Rachel from Servant Ceramics, who made her Finders Keepers debut at this market, and a few greeting cards from Renee Treml. I have always loved her work involving native Australian animals.

The fruit display in the trees surrounding the Old Museum Building for Finders Keepers was amazing. James was certainly impressed.

Phew! It was a big weekend (these events were just a small snippet) which is always fun to have once in a while. Next weekend is a long weekend for the G20, and I plan on staying at home and staying out of the action!
